A: No, the Pomona Kids First Initiative proposes to establish a special fund financed through the existing City of Pomona’s general purpose revenue.

Q: Who are the main supporters/funders of the Pomona Kids First Initiative?

A: This initiative was created by young people in the City of Pomona who grew up in Pomona and have been disillusioned by the underinvestment in children, youth, and families in our city.

Q: Hasn’t the City of Pomona increased funding for youth over the past few years?

A: Yes, the City has increased funding for youth over the years. However, this is because of increased federal funding from the American Rescue Plan, also known as the COVID-19 Stimulus Package, and is not a permanent increase to funding for youth.. The Pomona Kids First Initiative will provide a sustainable, long-term funding source for lasting change.

Q: What services will be provided to children, youth, and families with Measure Y?

A: The Pomona Kids First Initiative would help fund various types of services and programs including but not limited to to violence prevention and response, education, job training, alternatives to incarceration, parent/guardian support, media, arts, and culture, health and well-being, civic engagement, environmental health, outdoor education and recreation, deportation and immigrant support, and housing support.
